Earth Hour

WWF’s Earth Hour is an annual global celebration that happens every year that encourages people around the world to save energy by turning their lights completely off for one hour in order to help and care for our planet.

Earth Hour started in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then a huge growth of 172 countries and territories are now also involved and the number keeps rising.

“Earth Hour is not about how much energy is saved during the hour. Rather, it’s a chance to put the spotlight on the issues facing the planet, and to inspire millions across the world to live more sustainably.” – WWF.

This year Earth Hour will be held TONIGHT (Saturday 24th March 2017) at 8:30pm and I am so excited!

It is very easy to take part and it’s just for one hour! (or more if you are like myself!)

Earth Hour is incredibly close to my heart because we do need to protect our planet. Just by turning your lights out for one hour can really help the world and what harm is a bit of darkness? At my home we like to get candles out and sit and just reflect on how this is really helping and by seeing all different cities around the world go into complete darkness is a very breathtaking moment.

To see such big cities that are filled with lights 24/7 take part in this is amazing and especially to see the photographs they upload is just wow but by them doing so it also encourages everyone to take part. We need to protect our planet.

This year we are trying to do more than just turning off the lights. We as a nation want to  make a promise to protect the planet by doing things such as reusing a coffee cup or switching to green energy.

Earth Hour is incredibly fun, so please join in if you can and make a promise and if you can spread the word I will be even more happy!

Let’s love our planet.
