Mental Health Awareness

As many of you will be aware the hashtag is going around for #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and it is great. However, let’s spread the awareness to all year round. I have often thought with many things why are they just specified for a specific small amount of time? I get the whole raising awareness but it would be handy to continue to push through the awareness more than for a week, that implies other topics not just Mental Health. I know people who do it for the week and others do it all the time. It’s one of those things – but for me I want to spread as much awareness for as long as I possibly can!

So with that said I feel like this is a good time to share with you my latest project.

Starting Wednesday 5th June at 5pm my blog will share topics on specific mental health problems and illnesses. This will be known as the “Let’s Talk….” series. For instance this will include; OCD, PTSD, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Post Natal Depression etc.

Granted I am no professional, I am not a therapist but I have done plenty of research and studying to be able to share with you what I have learnt and pass on my understandings and help share the awareness – which is my main priority.

Oh and by the way, this is me. Nikita. Hello!!

Above is a photo of me, just so you can put my words to a face! I too suffer with my mental health – beforehand I was anonymous about it, did not say it was me, did not tell others. Well not no more!

Mental Health needs to be a topic that is discussed at a comfortable pace, we shouldn’t feel ashamed to talk how we feel. People can share their happiness, their love, their excitement so why can’t we feel able to share comfortably if we feel sad, lonely, worried?

The more we share, the more we talk then the more we can help each other. ♡
